About Us
 
The Economic Developers Association of Manitoba (EDAM) was formed in 1993 to improve communication, contact and liaison within the economic development profession.  It is an independent non-profit, incorporated association of persons directly engaged in economic development in Manitoba.
 
EDAM is one of several regional and provincial affiliates of the Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC), the national professional organization of economic development practitioners in Canada.  Through its affiliation with other provincial associations and EDAC, EDAM provides it membership with a network and linkage with the profession across Canada.
 
 
Mission Statement
 
The Economic Developers Association of Manitoba will provide a medium of conference and interchange of ideas on principles, practices and ethics in the field of Community and Local Economic Development in the Province of Manitoba.
 
'Economic Development' implies any legitimate activity that promotes and improves the economic viability and social well being of communities, emphasizing self help, participation, and control of a community's own resources.
 
 
Goals & Objectives
 
  • To provide a medium for the exchange and interchange of economic development related activities;
  • To increase the profile and awareness of economic development practitioners and organizations within the province of Manitoba and within the profession;
  • To deliberately and pro actively submit recommendations to its membership on subjects relating to practices and procedures in the field of development;
  • To represent and make representation at the direction of its membership, of its objectives and concerns related to development issues to local, provincial and federal governments, businesses, organizations and individuals.

Members of the Association are dedicated to:
 
ADD to the prestige of the profession of Economic Development by conforming to the highest ethical standards in professional relationships.
 
PROMOTE and advance the best civic, economic, and social interest of the communities and areas served by, and through, honest, personal endeavours.
 
STRIVE to uphold and maintain the dignity and prestige associated with Association membership.
 
COOPERATE with fellow members in informal exchange of information and ideas reflecting practices, trends, and policy pertaining to economic development.
 
GIVE careful thought and unprejudiced consideration to problems affecting the provincial field of economic development if, as, and when requested by the Association.
 
ACCEPT personal responsibility for furthering the Association's program.
